<a href="http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/default.aspx" title="Microsoft” target=”_blank”>Microsoft, the creators of all three Xbox Consoles announced today that they have sold a total of sixty million copies of the Halo Franchise worldwide. Halo was only brought to the world thirteen years ago with Halo: Combat Evolved. It was only in December of 2012 that Microsoft announced that they hit the 50 Million Milestone for Halo, that means within a two years period of time they were able to sell another ten million copies of Halo to fans.
This 60 Million Figure includes each one of the games developed in the Halo Universe. These games consist of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo Wars, Halo: Spartan Assault & Hallo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. All together Microsoft has said that players from around the world have played roughly six billion hours of Halo. This equates to 684,000 years, showing that Halo still continues to remain as the most popular franchise in video game history.
The new installment of the Halo Franchise is being released in early November. This new Halo game is called “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” which will consist of the first four games in the series. Only a couple of months later Halo 5: Guardians is being released to the public. Microsoft is clearly trying to get players to play all four halo campaigns before the fifth installment in the standalone franchise is released. There is a very good chance that with the release of these two new Halo Games that Microsoft could hit the 70 Million mark.
